In Marathon, it spawns across Perimeter, Dire Marsh, Cryo Archive, and it drops from Lockdown Zone, Locked Room. NuCaloric, MIDA require it for faction upgrades — 105 units in total across 23 upgrade tiers. Because it feeds faction progression, it's worth keeping in your inventory rather than selling it to a vendor. It can also be bartered with NuCaloric for Self-Revive x2.
